Act I

Rivka has given birth to a baby with a foul mouth. Myrrh doesn’t know quite how to deal with it when it fondles her. Rivka is offended and bursts into tears. Sam comforts her and is fondled as well. Myrrh knows that the baby is not good. It might be a … BAD BABY! Rivka says that her child needs her guidance, but Myrrh refuses to let her guard down. She has bigger fish to fry. She needs to find her book. The baby says that he will help her write it. Sam says that Myrrh can be the baby’s mentor. Where is the father? Chad is on a mission. Their baby could be the next Jesus.

Zeb counts his sheep. There is an angelic choir, and Angel Baby appears. She shares her power to raise the choir with him. He asks what heaven is like. Is there a place for a person like me? You just have to find light. He tells her about the burning bush that he saw. He peed on it, but it would not go out. She pours a drink for Zeb.

Rufus cleans his wig before bed. He needs to find the chosen baby. His life depends on it. John knocks at his door, and Rufus shares some hospitality with him. Have you found Myrrh’s book, Rufus? Rufus worries that there may be secrets in it. John says that it speaks highly of himself. Actually, John found the book. It says that Sam Ael is a strange guy. And Moishe smells like fish. It said something super damning about God. Rufus shares a secret with him. He takes off his wig. John screams.

Moishe sells fish, as a fishmonger does, when he meets Brother Mortimer. When she sees Brothe Mortimer, Myrrh wonders what her father Mortimer is wearing. He started a monastery. The voice of God tells him to take her to the monastery. Moishe hears it too! He and Brother Mortimer sing his praises. Myrrh says that the voice tells her that her father is mentally well, but no one else hears the voice. She calms the others down. She tries to prove that the voice doesn’t exist. Brother Mortimer must decide who to listen to. Let’s go home, voice be damned. Moishe predicts that this will bring darkness.

Rivka and Sam admire he baby. She wants so much for him. With Chad being absent, it’s like she’s a single mother. Rivka flirts with Sam, but she is also desperate. Zeb says that an angel came to him and filled him with liquid light. He loves Sam, even though he knows that he lit the burning bush. He forces Sam to drink the liquid light, too.

Brother Mortimer has lost his way, but has led Myrrh to his monastery. She spent so long talking to a god that doesn’t talk to her, but he talks to her right off!. He will continue to be her earth daddy. he wants to hear her problems, too. She tells him about being a scribe, but she lost he book. John may be hiding it from her. He hasn’t been treating her very well. Can you talk to him for me? It depends on the instructions he hear from the sky daddy.

Rufus finishing screaming about Rufus’ bald head. He tells John that he is undercover. He needs to finds out more about this King of the Jews. Caesar wants more information. What does he want with the baby? He must help Rufus find the baby. Who is to say that he’ll be a good leader. Playing the devil’s advocate, he’ll probably be a good leader. They hear Brother Mortimer sneeze in his hiding place. He tells John that he has done his daughter wrong and he is in a quiet rage.

Sam looks after the baby after drinking the liquid light. When the Angel Baby appears, the baby projectile vomits. It’s because of the liquid light he drank. She wonders what Sam is doing there. He quit working up there. Angel Baby is there to find good, but that baby is not good. He knows that the baby is dangerous. She suggests sending it down the river. He refuses. It will feel abandoned, like when it happened to him. Are you so naive that you think everything up there is good and everything down there is bad? When they see Zeb, Sam says that’s what happens when humans drink liquid light.

Brother Mortimer has the voice sent jock itch to John as revenge. Return Myrrh’s book, or the itch will spread all over you bodies. Both Mortimer and Rufus are afflicted. He’ll hand over the book. He’ll have the itching stop when the book is in his hands.

Act II

Rufus and John search for the book. They’ve looked everywhere! John remembers putting it down because he was going to work on a song with his brother. John suggests rewriting the book with what Rufus comes up with, because his predictions of what is in it have been 7/7 so far.

Brother Mortimer and Rivka commiserate about being single parents. She’s fucking up, because her baby is a demon. Rivka never had a chance to just be herself. What would you do, Rivka? No one has ever asked her that! Scrapbooking leaves and stones… maybe other things, like sand. She’s thinking wildly because he is supporting her. They sing of books and leaves and stones. Everyone can look at her book and learn. She kisses him. Mortimer wonders if that was cool. The voice says it’s cool.

Sam and Angel Baby sit by the river with the baby in the basket. He tells her about sitting in the slime when he was in his own basket. He’s desensitised to slime now. He blames himself being left in his own basket on Angel Baby’s actions in heaven. Sam needs to believe that even a demon baby can make the world a better place. He will keep the baby himself.

An itchy Moishe stumbles upon Zeb. Why are you shaking, Zeb? He asks if Moishe has any light, man. He was so high, he was touching the sky. Angel Baby finds them. He protects Moishe from her. She only brings darkness. Angel Baby can’t help it if Zeb is an addict.

Rufus sees that John’s wig is slightly off. John has found a book that doesn’t resemble Myrrh’s book at all. Rufus will dictate, and John will write it down. Okay… Moishe overate last night?

Moishe has Zeb explain about the evil woman. He was counting sheep and he heard an angelic chorus and Angel Baby offered him a cup of that sound, of liquid light. His whole body exploded with light. He felt that everything was okay, and his uncle would given back his father’s land. Then he found himself in darkness covered with worms. He heard Moishe’s voice. He reached out and Moishe rescued him! Moishe keeps Zeb away from the light.

Brother Mortimer looks desperately for his daughter. Where is my book? He has sent some people to find it. Brother Mortimer tells his daughter that he has fallen in love with a new woman. He searches for Rivka and just misses her. She gave Myrrh a chance to be part of her sons’s life. Where is the baby? Some village people are looking after him. Mortimer returns. This is the woman? What about Myrrh’s book? Does it have leaves in it? Rivka needs to go find her son. She kisses him. Get rid of your kid. Mortimer is torn between the two women.

Moishe helps Zeb find the witchy woman. He wants Angel Baby to turn him back to how he was before. She will try giving him… booze! It’s kind of the same, but half assed. Zeb gets drunk and feels alright. Moishe wonders if it will help with his missing soul. He drinks.

Rufus finishing dictating. You bastards! Myrrh found the book. But what about the one that John has? They read simultaneously, and they are exactly the same. You know what’s in my diary? That’s fucked. John tries to blackmail her with what she wrote about her dad. Switch books with me. John tells her that Rufus wants to kill a baby.

Sam kicks the baby around in its basket. Rivka finds them. Momma is going to leave. She has found a new passion that isn’t motherhood. She wants Sam to keep Chad Jr. She needs to be her own woman now. Rivka with an R. Chad Jr has intestines to eat and people to scorn. This is goodbye. She knows that Sam has it in his heart to raise Chad Jr. It takes a you to raise a child. Be careful, he’s powerful. Rivka couldn’t handle him. Chad Jr thanks his mother for abandoning her. She leaves, but Mortimer enters looking for her. Chad Jr insults Mortimer, and he calls upon the voice to afflict the baby. The voice does not comply. How does it feel to be abandoned by your God? This is Chad Jr’s chance to be a force for good. It decides not to attack Brother Mortimer. Sam says that Mortimer thinks that Chad Jr is from a different religion. He doesn’t know, does he?
