Private Practice Makes Private Perfect
(Episde 1)
Act I
Jaqueline Walsh and Doug meet for their early morning cup of coffee. They always get to the hospital bright and early. Jaqueline asks Doug if he can be her eyes and ears around the hospital and report back with any strange goings ons.
Susan Wilson has called Dr. Mallet into her office so she can go over the malpractice suits of the week. It hasn’t been so bad with the exception of some sponges and a watch. He is going to need to get some additional help to clean up his record but from who?! Why Philadelphia Jones! He reluctantly agrees but not before he asks Susan to quid pro quo the situation.
Phylis Good is trying to pitch the newest pharmaceuticals to Dr. Brah.
Jaqueline, needing some guidance for the big meeting that is about to come, heads to see Katie Cross who is blessing everything at the hospital.
Doug and Philadelphia enjoy the sweet, sweet release that is the Tootsie Roll pops. How does it work? Why does it work? Does it really keep Philadelphia from spiralling with all of the work that is piling up?
At the Scrub Daddy Scrub Station - Dr. Brah and Dr. Mallet are getting ready for their surgeries. Is it really so bad that they have to reuse the medical supplies? Is it really so bad if a few things get left in a body?
Susan brings Philadelphia into the Malpractice office to break the news that she is going to have to perform surgery with Dr. Mallet to keep an eye on him. Philadelphia wants nothing less. She’ll do it. But not without something from Susan in return.
Katie Cross and Phylis Good spend some quality time together exploring the hospital while completing their Easter Egg Hunt. The hallways are clean but full of sick patients.
In the Staff Infection Room, Jaqueline calls every member of the hospital to the weekly meeting. She goes over that they are going to have to really work hard on reducing, reusing, and recycling everything. A little wash and line dry of the sponges and they are as good as new. Oh. And one more tiny thing: River City Memorial is going PRIVATE!
ACT 2
Philadelphia and Dr. Mallet have agreed to scrub up together. She will make sure that he stays in line and she’ll make sure that the sponges are collected, washed, and ready for reuse.
In the elevator, Jaqueline and Susan discuss the benefits and the fallbacks of going private. Is it really going to be a money saving endeavour or is the staff going to turn on them? The elevator screeches to a halt and Katrina (the elevator emergency voice) says there’s nothing she can do because if the hospital goes private - she’ll be replaced and will be out of a job.
Dr. Brah has returned to Phylis in search of a new pill that will help control her wandering accent. They seem to finally land on one…accent.
In an effort to get off of the sugar, Philadelphia visits Katie in the chapel in hopes that some extra blessings can help her relieve all of the stress. Katie leads an in-depth ceremony which throws Philadelphia into a fainting spell.
Dr. Mallet has returned from the co-surgery. Susan is proud that he was able to put his feelings about Philadelphia aside for at least one operation.
Doug returns to Jaquelines side to tell her the goings on in the hospital. The rampant waste of sponges and the illicit use of Tootsie Roll Pops. The seem to get closer and closer. Could a romance blossom under such sterile conditions?
Once and for all Dr. Brah and Phylis are going to figure out what’s going on with Philadelphia. An extremely impressive explanation by Phylis involving some accurate medical terms leads them to a conclusion. The begin to perform the procedure. Philadelphia passes out again. She’s not waking up…
Alone in Jaquelines office, Dr. Brah receives a phone call from a mysterious person. Dr. Brah has pushed through some paperwork to get Nurse Hope transferred to River City Memorial. But just what is the price that Nurse Hope will have to pay?
